2015 Evaluation Results

Below this explanation you will find a summary of the 2014-2015 Evaluations of Ozark’s GTprogram will show all the stakeholders that participated in the evaluation last year and the questions that were used on the survey. I use this evaluation not only to evaluate the program from year to year, but also to set goals for the following year on ways to improve Ozark’s GT program.Based off last year’s survey I set the following goals for this year and suggestions on how I was going to try and achieve these goals.

Goal 1: To increase stakeholder participation in the evaluation process.
1) Distribute specific instructions on how to access online evaluations 2) Set aside specific time and date for students to complete online evaluations 3) Availability of computers to access online surveys in the GT classroom and parent center on all campuses, especially on parent/teacher conference night.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Goal 2: To provide specific staff development in the areas of 1)the overall GT program (K-2 teachers); 2) make-up work (3-5 teachers); 3) underachievement (6-12 teachers).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  1) Many opportunities were provided throughout the year for K-2 teachers to learn about the GT program, however it appears that they did not realize that they had participated in them. For this reason, the GT teacher will provide a cover sheet outlining the professional development opportunities that have been provided in GT for that school year. 2) The GT teacher will meet with the (3-5) teachers to explain alternatives for having students make-up work missed during GT time. 3)The GT teacher will provide resources for working with underachieving gifted students and contact these teachers to follow-up on the effectiveness of these resources.

Maybe more art projects like with art supplies because from what I know, more than half of the GT students love to paint or draw or produce a model of some sort. For the 6th and 7th grade GT class, maybe more work needs to be done on the computers as well.

What suggestions do you have for improving the GT program?

Our students would benefit from a GT class in Junior High which the students could take as an elective.
N/A
This program needs to actually meet with the students and not put it on the classroom teachers since the students do not do the extra work & it is a waste of time & effort
Wondering how some students who are identified as GT ever achieved the identification? Most can’t/won’t even complete regular classroom work. This should be an actual course for it to be implemented correctly.
More guidance
Students should only work in their area of interest. I would like to see Quiz Bowl added at the high school level.
None
Have a period of G/T instruction each day with a certified G/T Teacher
none
By the time GT students are in high school, most of them want out because they know that it could mean more work. Also, a lot of the GT students are receiving D’s and C’s in normal classwork because they need to be reevaluated for GT.
I had a GT student a couple of years ago that failed my class yet he was allowed to leave my class multiple times for GT activities. Not cool. I have not had any issues the past couple of years. I don’t even notice.
